4/13: A Better Covenant Band

Next Sabbath (April 13), we welcome Andrew & Darby Schultz of “A Better Covenant Band” who plan to join us from South Carolina.

They write:

Our ministry’s name is based off of Hebrews 8:6-12 which identifies Jesus’ life and death on the cross as a fulfillment of the Old Testament covenant. This better covenant allows every person to know God personally and enables full access to our Savior. It is our wish that everyone knows and understands the inspiring promises found in the Word of God.

Darby Schultz started playing violin when she was four years old and singing at age nine. Her early years included performing in church, mission trips, musical theatre, and orchestra. Growing up performing in church allowed her passion for sharing God’s love through music to blossom. She earned her bachelors of music in violin performance from Converse College and then went on to graduate with her masters in church music from Lee University.

Andrew Schultz grew up playing music by ear. By the time he graduated high school he played piano, organ, and clarinet. During college, he added trumpet, euphonium, and tuba. He graduated from Newberry College with degrees in piano performance, music theory, and jazz studies. He has an extensive background in composition and arranging, particularly marching band shows. His passion for teaching led him to Converse College where he earned his masters in music education.

When Andrew and Darby began dating in 2016, they immediately started collaborating on compositions and performances.

Their extensive classical backgrounds allow for high-quality instrumental and vocal numbers.

In 2018, they formed “A Better Covenant,” recorded their debut album, and were married on June 9, 2019. They have since released 3 albums while performing at churches, camp meetings, and evangelistic series throughout the country. They enjoy married life in South Carolina.
